Our Veterinary Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, Rowley Animal Hospital stresses the importance of a bi-annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Surgical Services

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Anesthesia

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Internal

Internal medicine consults: We offer in-hospital referrals to an internal medicine specialist who performs ultrasounds and helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.

Radiology Services:

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.

Electrocardiography

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site with cardiology specialist consultation.  We can offer fast screening EKGs for pets undergoing anesthesia or at risk of cardiac disease, such as certain breeds (sphynx or Maine Coon cats, boxers, dobermans, and other breeds).  We can also offer complete cardiologist evaluations of x-rays and EKGs.

Dentistry

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.

Laboratory

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification

Permanent identification: We offer permanent microchip identification.  It is recommended that all pets be microchipped to allow for easy identification if they were to get lost or stolen.  A microchip implantation is a quick and easy procedure, similar to a vaccine administration.  It entails injecting a small microchip, the size of a grain of rice, under the skin between the shoulder blades.  We can perform a microchip implantation during your pet's next office visit.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Flea and Tick Control Programs

Individualized Flea and Tick Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

Boarding

Boarding:  We provide medical boarding to our patients who may not be well enough for a traditional boarding facility.  Due to limited capacity, we do not do general boarding.

Bathing

Bathing:  Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.

Emergency

Emergency Care:  We are available to see emergencies during normal business hours.  Please call our main telephone number at (978) 948-2118 for instructions for after-hour emergencies or click here for a listing of local emergency hospitals.
